Putting a fresh spin on traditional art deco styling, the Carlton Butchery building represents the perfect balance between timeless design and contemporary innovation. With acclaimed restaurant Athens Yacht Club as the anchor tenant, the Carlton Butchery is now well-established one of the city’s hottest dining destinations. Office space and a luxury apartment occupy the upper floors.
The four-level building was one of Christchurch’s first commercial post-earthquake rebuild projects and was completed in October 2013 by Countrywide Group. It occupies a prime location on the busy Carlton Corner and is a well-known local landmark. Built on the site of an old brick building which was badly damaged in the September 2010 earthquake, its construction paved the way for further development along Victoria Street, much of which has been carried out by Countrywide Group.
