This stunning building has an attractive outlook over a grassy ‘urban island’ park featuring mature trees. It is highly visible from many angles on its corner site. It has an attractive terraced appearance, with the upper two floors stepped back from the front façade, which reduces its visual impact from the small park. The façade features a mix of aluminium joinery and curtain wall glazing and the building also includes a basement car park.
A positive sign of the times when it was constructed in 2013, this was the first building in the city with a tower crane being used for construction as opposed to demolition. The six-level, 3,300m2 building was also one of the first post-earthquake buildings on Victoria Street to be completed. In this way, it was one of the founding projects which helped establish Victoria Street as the post-earthquake commercial centre of Christchurch.
